José Maria Simão

José Maria joined PARES in 2017. In his professional journey, José Maria initially provided advice to public and private entities on matters related to dispute resolution, arbitration, and pre-litigation negotiation.

He then exclusively transitioned to the areas of corporate, commercial, and M&A law, advising on asset deals and share deals, the formation of joint ventures, and the establishment of new businesses, working with both national and international clients.

For the past six years, José Maria has also focused on venture capital and startups, supporting entrepreneurs and investors in structuring and formalizing the best investment frameworks, and providing daily legal advice on all matters related to the setup of new startup operations.

Finally, as a result of various secondment experiences, José Maria has gained knowledge and expertise in the fields of Communications, Advertising, Technology, and Personal Data.
